Breast Implants Revision – Correcting Breast Augmentation Complications
A number of patients who are experiencing breast implants complications often visit a top plastic surgeon to undergo a revision breast augmentation procedure. Revision surgery requires meticulous surgical skills and many board-certified plastic surgeons specialize in revision procedures, which are often quite complex.
Patients undergo revision breast augmentation for a number of reasons, including unsatisfactory aesthetic results, breast augmentation complications and/or implant wrinkling or deflation. A condition known as capsular contracture is one of the most common reasons why patients undergo breast augmentation revision surgery. Capsular contracture is a breast augmentation complication associated with excess scar tissue that forms around the implant, which can lead to pain, discomfort and other complications. Some patients pursue breast implants revision surgery to correct aesthetic discrepancies, including unnatural-looking breasts and to change the size of the implants.
Prior to performing breast revision surgery, cosmetic specialists first evaluate the patient's current condition, identify any problems and try to gain a deeper understanding of the patient's aesthetic goals. Next, the patient and the surgeon work hand-in-hand to develop a custom treatment that will lead to the best outcome possible. Often this involves looking at breast augmentation before and after photos to determine the patient's desired bustline. Once a treatment plan is finalized, a plastic surgeon makes an incision, generally around the nipples, which allows greater visibility and access to the breast tissue. He/she then removes the implants and performs any necessary corrective procedures.
Breast augmentation recovery surgery may last several hours and the recommended recovery time is five to seven days. However patients may be asked to limit their activities and wear post-surgical garments for a few weeks following surgery. There are a number of side effects associated with this complex surgical procedure that should be discussed with a qualified surgeon.
Many top plastic surgeons specialize in a number of plastic surgery procedures, including corrective procedures such as revision rhinoplasty. A number of patients who undergo a revision breast augmentation surgery often undergo breast lift at the same time, which further enhances the aesthetic appearance of their bustline.
