Cost of Rhinoplasty Surgery
The cost of rhinoplasty, just like all other plastic surgery procedures, depends on several important factors, including the surgeon's skills, credentials, location and the cosmetic and/or structural changes that will be made to the nose.
Rhinoplasty cost varies from one patient to another depending on his/her individual aesthetic needs and expectations. Generally the cost of rhinoplasty can range anywhere from $3,000 to $8,000 and includes the fees for:
- Operating room
- Anesthesia
- Surgeon
The most costly part of rhinoplasty is the surgeon's fee, which varies from one nose specialist to another. Also, the type of anesthesia preferred by the patient, local or general can affect the cost. General anesthesia puts the patient to sleep and often requires the presence of a trained anesthesiologist, which can increase the cost. Local anesthesia is a sedative that simply numbs the area and the patient, although awake, does not feel any pain and/or discomfort.
Rhinoplasty cost also depends on the structure of the nose, including its size, the span of the nostrils, the shape of the tip of the nose, the shape of the bridge and/or the angle between the nose and the upper lip. In some cases a combination of nasal correction procedures are required in order for the plastic surgeon to produce the best possible results.
Another determining cost of rhinoplasty is the complexity of the procedure and the type of nose surgery closed or open. Closed rhinoplasty is often utilized for minor cosmetic alternations and involves small incisions on the inside of the nose while open rhinoplasty requires additional incisions on the outside of the nose and is used during major reshaping and/or nasal reconstruction.
However, because rhinoplasty is associated with a number of risks and is a prominent feature of the face, each patient should strive to find a top board-certified plastic surgeon who holds advanced training and specializes in nose reshaping techniques. Nose specialists may charge more; however, surgeons who specialize in facial contours tend to produce the best aesthetic results.
A number of patients who undergo nose surgery are often extremely happy with the outcome and pursue additional facial surgery procedures, including face lift, eyelid surgery, brow lift and facial implants.
